Literature

The more or less scientific literature I perused to write the comic.

Almut Blick, Die Steinzeit, Theiss 2012. Great overview on the stone ages, with marvellous depictions of tools. Also includes the neolithic- which is after the perios of the comic- up to the bronze ages.

Terry Deary, Horrible Histories: The Savage Stone Age, Scholastic UK, 1999. A fun and light take but with quite a bit of information.

Silvia Ferrera, Der Sprung: Eine Reise zu den Anfängen des Denkens in der Steinzeit, C.H. Beck 2023. Good overview on the development of Stone Age research.

Yuvak Noah Harari, Daniel Casanave, Daviv Vandermeulen, Sapiens: Der Aufstig, C.H. Beck 2020. Comic-Version of a short story of humanity by Yuvak, it is very fun to read, but I think he undersell Neanderthals’ capacity of abstract thought, as Neanderthal buried its dead.

S. Douay, Benoist Simmat, L’incroyable Histoire de la cuisine: De la préhistoire à nos jours, 500 000 ans d’aventure, Les Arènes BD, 2022. An overview of the whole evolution of cooking, with a sizeable part about prehistoric cooking. Good for anyone curious about food!
